I have added variant support to the USAK onsite mapper. I have tested 1989 so far and I should have testing done for modern and aberration done before USAK:flyboy01 and USAK:chimes start. Feel free to force the issue. :-)

1989? You typed that with your fingers crossed, didn't you?

I'm a life member of DNA - The National Dyslexics Association. :-)
1898 is the variant I grabbed for my first test. I really need to make a systematic test of all the variants that are supported by the judge core to make sure that my code will find the right map for each. Among other things, I need to check that changes I've made to the Standard map didn't break the map for the Minor Power variant, check that I have the right maps and verify that the code I set up is trying to load the map I think it is.
I'm missing one of the Machiavelli maps. It probably uses the same map as one of the others, but I'll need to make an explicit declaration for that variant once I identify the right map.
Most of the maps are matched with fuzzy regular expressions. If there's an exact match for the variant name in the maps, it will use that first. If not, it will use the first map with that variant name followed by one or more digits. If there's no match from one of those two patterns it will take the closest match (within limits). If there are exceptions to those rules, like using the standard map for Fleet Rome and shift variants or the Hundred3 map for H31 & H32, then those must be named before the other rules are invoked.
I'd love some feedback on my color scheme - http://usak.asciiking.com/webtools/gamelist/wave0001 - before I copy those colors onto a couple dozen variant maps. Ultimately I may dump the lime on black for the site (or tone it down some) in favor of a design built around those colors, so this could be important.

My standard response on the issue of colour scheme is to recommend traditional pink for Britain (misnamed 'England' -- by an American, naturally!), freeing proper blue for France. These are the colours used in my British set from the 1970s, and they avoid having blue (E), blue-green (F) and green (I) right next to each other. (That set also uses brown for Austro-Hungary and purple for Russia, but, while those colours are as good as the American standard, I see no reason for preferring them.)
Of your scheme in particular, Chris, I'd say that the land is a bit brightly coloured. I suggest toning that sandy colour down a bit, towards grey/brown. That should make most of the units and dots stand out a bit better -- especially the Turkish supply centres.
