For a quick and dirty game, this is sure taking a long time to fill, but we have six. Anyone care to step up for a little afternoon delight?

Thanks,

Eric.

We still need three move brave souls who dare to defy conventions by playing 7 days per week, and submitting orders at odd times. Join 'nooner' on USAK.

Thanks,

Eight characters is the maximum length allowed by nJudge. I use all 8 for the house games out of a programming habit and/or neurosis. I had some complaints in the beginning when I was in the single significant digits, but that's died down. I only had to answer "yes" to the "Do you really expect to have that many games?" a few times.

The consistency helps players remember game names. I have a good chance of hitting 100 games in 2 or 3 series in my second full year of this naming convention, which makes hitting 5 significant digits (10,000 games) in those series within my lifetime very feasible.

I'm also actively working to automate most of my GM activity so the 10k mark for novice and fast gunboat games is actually a 10 year goal.

Chris

Oops. Sorry for being a bit dense here, and many thanks to those who have contributed to my education. No fewer than 4 of you have leapt to my rescue, so I guess Dipsters is a pretty good place to display one's ignorance 8-)

It doesn't show on Dip Pouch because it's NoList. For a specific game (whether listed or not), you can always find out settings etc. via the command "list gamename".

What's wrong with me? I still can't see it, either in the Dip Pouch openings list, or at the ASCII King website.

I raised the 8-character name issue because I thought that was a house rule imposed by Chris on USAK. However, I've now noticed an active game called something like "sdn002" -- just 6 characters, like "nooner". So is the 8-character standard just a convention that you use for games that you create personally, Chris?

In order to adhere to the new membership requirement to host at least one game a year, I have created a game on USAK called QUICKIE (standard no press with deadlines every day). Well, at least I *believe* I have created it. I do not see a listing for it on either our Dipsters game list (http://www.floc.net/observer.py?login=dipster&page=login) or on the generic judge openings list (http://www.diplom.org/openings/openings.html#USAK).

I am hoping that someone will advise me if I have skipped an important step to make this game available?
