Dipsters Variant Tournament Rules
All tournament games are 24 hour no-press games with weekday (Monday through Thursday) deadlines. The tournament games start under a staggered schedule with the last game beginning approximately 12 weeks after the first game starts.
At the direction of the Tournament Director, each player will also be the GM for one assigned tournament game.
In this tournament, each player plays seven games(one as each power) and accumulates points from the outcome of each game.
Points from each game are awarded on this basis:
- Win = 6.00 pt
- 2-way Draw = 2.50 pt
- 3-way Draw = 1.33 pt
- 4-way Draw = 0.75 pt
- 5-way Draw = 0.40 pt
- 6-way Draw = 0.16 pt
- 7-way Draw = 0.00 pt
- Loss = -1.00 pt
When all tournament games have been completed, the player with the most points is the Tournament Champion. In the event of a tie, there is no Champion; rather, the highest scoring finishers are all tied for 1st Place.
Rules Specific to This Year's Variant - Open Build
There are two special settings for this tournament variant:
1) Players may build in any owned (home or non-home) center during a build phase.
This is an interesting setting because it allows strong governments in exile even after one's homeland is overrun.
PLAYERS MAY BUILD ONLY IN SCS THAT ARE OPEN AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ADJUSTMENT PHASE; PLAYERS MAY NOT REMOVE A UNIT IN ORDER TO BUILD ANOTHER UNIT IN THAT SAME SC DURING THE SAME PHASE.
2) Players may disband any unit during a build phase (and thus gain the option to rebuild on a buildable center if desired).
PLAYERS MUST SUBMIT AN ORDER FOR *EVERY* UNIT IN A BUILD PHASE.
eg:
build f ber
remove a kie
maintain a mun

House Rules and Special Rules
All tournament games are also fast-paced Dipsters Group games.
Each tournament game is conducted under the standard EP House Rules:

In addition, each tournament game is also conducted under the house rules for the judge on which it is played.
The following special rules also govern each tournament game:
- Do not abandon any tournament game. A willing abandonment or CD will result in an ejection from this tournament and from the Dipsters Group as well.
- Each tournament game requires that you maintain a decent ontime ratio. Do not hold up the game by being late. In the interest of maintaining timely play for all players in this game, the GM must record a game ejection on the Dipsters Group record of any player who has been late more than 20% of the time in this game and has already been late 4 times or more. Chronic or excessive lateness by any player may result in his being ejected from this tournament at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
- Each tournament game has an automatic 6-year draw clock. If no SC has changed possession after 6 consecutive game years, the GM may end this game in a DIAS Draw without a prior announcement of his intention to set the draw clock.
- If you need an absence during any tournament game, you should submit a 'set absence' command to the judge on your own and in the following format:
'Set Absence Jan 01 00:00 to Jan 06 23:59'
Just be sure that you have requested your absence well before you need it because the judge will not accept an absence request that falls within the current season. - Since this is a no-press gunboat tournament, you must keep your anonymity through the end of the tournament and you must not discuss any tournament game until the tournament has been completed.
Enjoy your game and the tournament!
